One New Man Art Painting: Abraham's Encounter

Abraham's Encounter

Scriptures: “Remember Abraham Isaac and Israel, Your servants to whom You swore by Your own self, and said to them “ I will multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven and all this land that I have spoken of, I give it to your descendants, and they shall inherit it forever.” (Exodus 32:13)

“No longer will you be called Abram; your name will be Abraham, for I have made you a father of many nations.” (Genesis 17:5)

“Abraham will surely become a great and powerful nation, and all nations on earth will be blessed through him.” (Genesis 18:18)

“He took him outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars, if indeed you can count them.” Then He said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” (Genesis 15:5)

“I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies.” (Genesis 22:17)

“I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and will give them all these lands, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed.” (Genesis 26:4)

As Israel’s foundational root, Abraham, represented in this painting as the Olive Tree, receives God’s promise to make His seed as countless as the stars in the night sky.

The landscape is depicted as hot and void of any vegetation, representing the world without faith in it.

Abraham's well is positioned next to the rich green Olive tree to remind us that through Abraham’s faith all humanity can drink from the wells of salvation, supplied by the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel.

The Green Olive Tree stands in stark contrast to the surrounding barren landscape, representing the ‘alive faith’ of Abraham.

Under the expansive starry skies Abraham encounters God in a divine exchange with the Creator of the universe, nothing in heaven and earth is ever the same again!

The three small tents in the background represent Abraham, Isaac and Jacob,  the three foundational roots for all God's children under the continuous, covering of His eternal promise to Abraham that all the families of the Earth will be blessed.
