Love Fire Olive Trees
At the age of thirteen my son had an encounter which he described to me as “being on fire and about to explode.”
I imagine that description must have been close to what the disciples experienced roughly 2000 years earlier when the Holy Spirit was poured out in Jerusalem upon the waiting disciples.
Wow. In his painting I tried to capture that awesome moment as the promised Holy Spirit fire poured out upon those early, waiting disciples.
In the painting, the deep reds of the foreground and trees, represents the blood red earth in the land of Israel, contrasted by fire streaming down from above.
The tree crosses with menorah branches on fire, reminding us that salvation came, first to the Jew then to the Gentiles.
All believers everywhere are indebted to the Jewish people who have carried the torch of God’s Light into the World for our sakes and at tremendous cost.
Now we, a largely Gentile church, have the opportunity to carry that light back to the Land and people of Israel.
As we have received mercy, so we pray mercy upon all Jewish people and upon the nation of Israel.
