One New Man Art Painting: Nations Rooted In Olive Tree

Abraham's Encounter

Scriptures: “to be a minister of messiah Yeshua to the Gentiles. He gave me the priestly duty of proclaiming the gospel of God, so that the Gentiles might become an offering acceptable to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit”.  (Romans 15:16)

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, immersing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Ruach ha-Kodesh,”  (Matthew 28:19)

“...seeing that Abraham will most certainly become a great and mighty nation and in him all the nations of the earth will be blessed.” (Genesis 18:18)

This painting is one of ‘those’ paintings that evolved during the process of painting rather than starting out from a clear idea.

I began painting a mountainous landscape with open spaces and a winding river running from the distance into the entire foreground.

As an atmospheric landscape I was quite pleased with it, but it didn’t seem to mean anything.

I realised that I had got lost in painting and somehow disconnected from my heart which carries the message that out of the Olive Tree of Israel salvation has come to the Gentile nations.

The solution was simple, let the main thing be the main thing!

Center stage I overpainted the landscape with a large olive tree cross, out of which the branches of the Menorah reminding us that The Light of the Kingdom of God has come  through God's covenant People Israel.

His light shimmers over the waters, representing the many peoples of the earth.

The idea being that from its conception, Israel the Olive Tree of God is the torch bearer for all nations, from its roots to it's shining fruits.
