The Sabbath day was given by God long before the instruction to make a Golden lampstand for the tabernacle.
However I combined these two glorious instructions from God to try to portray the eternal essence and calling of the Jewish people from the Heart of God.
In this picture white vertical brushstrokes, dispersed throughout the painting, represent sabbath candles.
Throughout generations of Jewish history these candles were lit to welcome in the Sabbath day of rest.
The Menorah lampstand with its seven lamps remind me of God's command to rest on the seventh day. For many centuries these two features have been intrinsically Jewish.
Even to the present day, the continuity of these two God given ‘signs’ are evident amongst the Jewish people.
By this reality we are reminded of the very character, power and Presence of God amongst His Chosen People, even after they, being set apart by Him for our sakes, two thousands years ago.
Truly Israel has carried the Light of God to the Nations of the World.
Now they are in need for that same light to be carried back to them by us, His believing children from the Nations of the world are called to stand before the God of Israel, on their behalf.
