One New Man Art Painting: Ten Commandments

Ten Commandments Olive Tree

Scriptures: “Then the Lord said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘you have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.” (Exodus 20:22)

“For what great nation is there that has gods so near them, as Adonai our God is whenever we call on Him? What great nation is there that has statutes and ordinances that are righteous, like all of this Torah that I am setting before you today” (Deuteronomy 4:7-8)

“Now all the people witnessed the thunderings, the lightning flashes, the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it they trembled and stood afar off.” (Exodus 20:18)

“Then the Lord came down upon Mount Sinai, on top of the mountain. And the Lord called Moses to the top of the mountain and Moses went up.” (Exodus 19:20)

“Out of heaven He let you hear His voice, that He might instruct you; on earth He showed you His great fire, and you heard His words out of the midst of the fire.” (Deuteronomy 4:36)

“Then Moses and the priests, the Levites, spoke to all Israel, saying “Take heed and listen. O Israel, this day you have become the people of the Lord your God.” (Deuteronomy 27:9)

“We remember that long ago You did amazing things for us that we had never dreamed You’d do. You came down, and the mountains shook at Your presence.” (Isaiah 64:3)

The Olive Tree of Israel is depicted in this painting as receiving into itself, and holding onto, as an embrace, the Ten Commandments on Mt Sinai. This monumental divine encounter is simply portrayed yet it’s reality changed the course of humanity's destiny.

The  two tablets form a heart shape in the center of the tree, depicting God’s loving heart in the giving of the Law for His people and wisdom for all of mankind to be governed by.

The Glory of His Presence, painted as sparkling white, shines on the two famous tablets.  Rays of colour radiate all around the tree to further portray a sense of the Glory of God in the giving of the Law, in this Divine encounter, between man and our Creator God.
