Tied Together

Scriptures: “...that they all may be one, as You Father are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that you sent Me.  And the glory that You gave Me, I have given them, that they be one just as We are one: I in them, and You  in Me that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me…" (John 17: 21-23)

"...so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace.  And that he might reconcile them both to God in one body through the tree, thereby putting to death the enmity..." ( Ephesians 2:15b -16)

"For if you were cut out of the Olive Tree which is wild by nature, and we’re grafted contrary to nature into a cultivated Olive tree, how much more will these, who are natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree?" (Romans 11:24)

The beauty of the Father’s heart, His passionate desire to bring into being the next phase of humanity’s potential in the One New Man for becoming ONE with Him is the motif for this painting.

I have tried to portray a sense of the intimacy and detailed loving care that God our Father is taking to finally bring the two separated parts of His family together. Jew and Gentile One in His Love.

In this painting I have focused on the physical reality of the grafting process, by showing the two separate branches, one the cultivated olive tree, the other the wild olive tree being tied closely together by golden cords of the Father’s Love.

It seems clear that the process is both difficult and painful and can only be fully accomplished by a willingness to soften and yield to the tightness of sustained pressure of alignment and agreement with one another and our Father. Is this not a circumcision of the heart?
